Zdravo!

Ja cheguei a Croacia, e estou neste momento no hostel (no mesmo onde fiquei no ano passado) a descansar um bocado antes de ir ler para a praia.
A viagem de aviao foi complicado, tendo havido uns 15 minutos seguidos de turbulencia, acompanhados pelos gritos de dois miudos que se encontravam em plena competicao vocal.
Quando ca cheguei estava a chover mas o ceu ja abriu e esta calor :D
No entanto isto parece demasiado parado. Penso que na Quarta-Feira deva ir a Plitvicka e seguir para Zagreb no dia seguinte.
Ah, ja fui ao orgao de agua e mesmo nublado deu-me vontade de saltar. Vou agora vestir uns calcoes para tratar disso ;P

Acordamos ha um bocadito e vamos agora tentar ir ao topo de um arranha-ceus.
Se ao fim do dia tiver tempo escrevo com mais detalhe o que tem havido :)

A viagem correu bem e chegamos ontem a hora prevista. As nossas hospedeiras foram impecaveis e mostraram-nos a noite da cidade (que me fez lembrar Londres), e ja experimentamos umas 6 ou 7 marcas de cerveja.
Agora vamos ao rio Mein e conhecer o centro (e ver arranha-ceus), antes de irmos experimentar umas comidas alemas.
Estou vivo e isto comeca a serio agora ;)

PS - Ziu, a missao ja comecou! Ja ha fotos apesar de nao serem de autoctones ;P

É já amanhã

É já amanhã!
A mala está (quase) feita e, para não variar, quero levar bastante mais do que o espaço que tenho e sei à partida que não usarei tudo o que levo :P

Ontem foi a partida de Lisboa e abandonei a minha casa (obrigado, Fernando, pela ajuda com isso ;)).  Hoje o dia foi passado a arrumar toda a tralha que de lá trouxe (e que encheu o a mala do Clio até ao topo) e a pensar em que é que teria que levar, para que não me escapasse nada (reparei agora que me esqueci de comprar uns chinelos, por isso amanhã de manhã ainda vou tratar disso).

Obrigado a toda a gente que me mandou mensagens a desejar boa viagem, em especial à Marlene por ter ajudado a transformar uma contractura no peitoral esquerdo numa uma dor profunda e generalizada pelo tronco inteiro :P

I just heard the news that the Icelandic volcano just stopped!

If nothing abnormal occurs, there won't be any problem with the flights. So, this Friday at 12:00, Nuno and I will be flying to Frankfurt, the first of many cities I'll visit for some weeks :)

Fresh news about the visa

I went to the travel agency specialized in Russia and other former USSR countries - Lusitana Sol -, to get some more info about how to get the visa, since I couldn't apply for the one in Paris.
After talking for a while, the lady told me that for a tourist visa I would need to have a reservation of a hotel, and then I could get a 30 days visa after that date. At least that's how it worked for Russia.
After making some phone calls, she told me that it's no longer like that, and that I get the visa only for the days that I made a reservation for the hotel, making this visa extremely expensive.
That way, she suggested me to try to get a private visa, by asking someone there to go the the Foreign Ministry Office and to ask for the official paper to invite someone.
I asked a person over Couchsurfing to do that, and I'll get more info about that by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I spoke with some Portuguese people (also through CS) who just went to Belarus and they told me that since the beginning of this year that invitation paper in no longer needed for a citizen of the EU, so I only need to give the name and address of the person I'm staying with.
They both told me it's possible to get a visa in few hours in Kiev or Vilnius. These were the best news! ;D

Things I still need to do in Portugal

First things first: I still need to get the visa for Belarus.
Apparently the option to get the visa with the aid of that travel agency is not a valid one, since they said that, even if everything would go perfectly, it would still take about 30 days to get the visa through Paris. That way, I will try to get the visa in a country with a Belorussian embassy, most likely Hungary.
Still, I need to get an invitation letter from a Belorussian travel agency in order to get a tourist visa, and I'll try getting it here.
The other option would be to get a private visa (a visa for visiting someone there) that is cheaper. But from what I've read, it's hard to get one of those, and if I apply for one they'll check everything about the person and that can be really unpleasant for the inviter. Anyway, tomorrow morning I'll be at the portuguese travel agency (LusitanaSol, next to the Russian Embassy in Lisbon, is the one more capable of dealing with this, since it's they're core business) talking with them again to see which will be the best option.

There's a list of things I still have to get meanwhile:

• A money belt
• Centrum (I don't know what I'll be eating, so it's better to take some supplements)
•  A health insurance (it's not required for any country I'll be visiting - except for Belarus, but I have to get that one at the border - and the European Health Card will be enough for most of the countries but, depending on the cost, it may be better to get one)
• An 8-16GB micro-SD memory card (that way I can use it in the mobile phone besides using it in the camera)
• A notebook
• A Swiss Army Knife
• A small First Aid Kit (Thanks to Ferreira for reminding me of this)

And some things I shall not forget to put in the backpack:

• A shoulder strap bag, so I don't need to carry the backpack all around
• A deck of cards (and maybe some other games, like Jungle Speed or Ligretto - thanks to Felipe for introducing those to me)
• A scarf of Portugal's football team (I'll be travelling during the Football World Cup)
• A locker for the backpack (I read this at João Leitão's webpage, and it's in fact a great idea)

And some things to do:

• Learn Cyrillic
• Watch some movies about the WWII, Cold War and the Communist age in Eastern Europe
• Re-check the places I'm going to stay in
• To see how bookcrossing.com works (it's not a good idea to be carrying 6 books ;))

And before ending this post, I realized I skipped one important information about the trip:
I'll be backpacking and staying at friends' houses, or friends of friends', or even doing Couchsurfing. I'll be taking trains and buses most of the time (I thought about renting a car, but it's too expensive for just one person).

A data de partida aproxima-se

Ando numa correria para tratar de tudo o que ainda me falta.
O meu estado de espírito oscila entre o ansioso/impaciente e o saudoso/melancólico.
Se por um lado todo o meu tempo livre é utilizado para procurar informações sobre os lugares onde vou, o que devo visitar, tratar das coisas que me faltam e garantir que (quase) nada me falta, por outro lado a brevidade para a partida para o Leste é também sinónimo de deixar Lisboa e após o primeiro jantar de despedida a data de partida parece demasiado próxima.

No campo das boas notícias está o facto de ir encontrar pessoal que já não vejo há imenso tempo, e de talvez vir a ter algumas visitas esporádicas.
Para já encontra-se confirmada a contratação de Daniel Teixeira para jogar a ala esquerdo no jogo que desenrolará em Cracóvia no meu aniversário :D Está a ponderar-se algo em grande para este dia :D

Some friend have asked me to write the blog in English but I still want my parents to be able to check that I'm alive, so I decided to write the posts about the trip in English and the posts about my current condition in Portuguese.

Preparativos e itinerário

Muita coisa relativa à viagem está ainda por decidir, e vou postar o que for relevante em relação aos preparativos.

O itinerário está mais ou menos definido, assim como algumas datas.

Partida dia 28 de Maio do Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro. Chegada depois do dia 12 de Julho ao Aeroporto da Portela. Isto assumindo que o Vulcão não causará danos aos planos.

Este é o plano inicial, estando ainda sujeito a alterações, a principal das quais prende-se com o visto para a Bielorrússia.

Amanhã de manhã irei falar com uma (mais uma) agência de turismo, desta feita uma especializada nos países da ex-URSS para tentar obter mais alguma informação.

O problema é o seguinte:

É preciso visto para a Bielorrússia e não existe embaixada da Bielorrússia em Portugal. Existem três hipóteses:

1. Pago 145€ à agência para me tratarem do visto (enviando o passaporte para Paris) mas não me parece que o consiga obter a tempo.
2. Vou de avião para Minsk e tiro o visto no aeroporto por 30€ (sendo que necessito de indicar alguma informação - não sei ao certo qual). Vou tentar saber disto amanhã.
3. Tiro o visto expresso (60€) num país com embaixada da Bielorrússia, demorando 2 dias. Penso que continuo a precisar de alguns documentos, como um convite de um bielorrusso ou de uma agência de turismo.

Tentarei saber de tudo amanhã.

Por fim, já chegou a bíblia :D

Criação do Blog

Bem, o blog está criado.

Estou a ponderar como o hei-de organizar, para poder ter um blog que relate aos amigos e família como me encontro, e um outro blog para - quem sabe? - um dia poder dar uma mãozinha aos leitores de língua portuguesa que decidam fazer uma viagem semelhante.

Por enquanto organizarei isto utilizando as seguintes tags:

- tiago, para assuntos relacionados com o que ando a fazer;

- viagem, para tudo o que seja relativo à viagem!

E pronto, está o blog inaugurado.
